Al Lujan has been part of this community for many years, working tirelessly to make it a better place.
My Experience:
I was born and raised in El Paso, attended Austin High School and graduated in 1992.
U.S. Marine Veteran - The day after graduation I attended the U.S. Marine Corps Bootcamp in California. I served over 5 years (1992 - 1997) in the Marine Corps Infantry Unit.
Texas State Trooper - In 1997, I join Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) where I was a State Trooper for over 5 years, stationed in El Paso, Van Horn and then South Texas (1997 - 2003).
Deputy U.S. Marshal - In 2003, I started my federal career at a Deputy U.S. Marshal, and retired in 2023 as a Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal. During my career, I specialized in sex crimes, sex offender compliance and child recoveries.
I have protected Supreme Court & Circuit Court Justices, District Judges and protectees. I was the Task Force Supervisor and coordinator where we arrested thousands of wanted federal and state violent fugitives. During this time I lead multi agencies operations for a common goal. They included FBI, ATF, DEA, HSI, Sheriff’s Departments and Municipal Police Departments. I was the Public Information Officer and provided media news releases and TV interviews on government operations.
College Education - During this time I was also able to complete my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M in Corpus Christi.
After retirement, I returned back home to El Paso in April of 2024 to join my amazing wife Danii who supports me in this run for office. I am a father of three amazing children and a grandfather of two.
Community Organizations Involved In -
- Member of the Knights of Columbus since 2009, and have served as the Grand Knight for my council. As a Knight I have clothed and fed the homeless. Worked in my community and helped those that were in need. Cared for the sick and children that were neglected or abused.
- I have served as Den Leader and Assistant ScoutMaster for Boy Scouts for 12 years. I was an example to young men on developing life learning skills and leadership methods.
- Parish Council Member. Provided council to the parish leaders on growth of the church and community.
- Director of an ACTS Retreat (Adoration, Community, Theology & Service). A spiritual renewal, helping participants deepen their relationship with Christ through prayer, scripture study, and fellowship.
- Band Booster President. Collecting sponsorships through the community to assist in band expenditures and events not covered by the school.
- Leadership Corpus Christi, Class 48, sponsored through the Chamber of Commerce in 2019. An intensive training program for emerging & existing leaders; LCC builds the skills, knowledge, motivation & vision to develop a stronger community. 2nd oldest community leadership program in Texas, and one of the oldest in the nation.
- Member of the VFW El Paso.

- Marine Corps League El Paso.
- Volunteering with the Young Marines in El Paso.
- Current Treasure of the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.)
- Current Precinct Chair #60 in El Paso County.

- Former EL Paso GOP Vice Chair.
